BIO DEVELOPMENT
Bio Development: The "short version"
In my work with 1:1 clients, one of my specialites is supporting people through the process of developing their bios for professional or personal use. I combine my expertise and training as a coach with my passion for storytelling to bring forward a delightful and revealing process with amazing results.
A "bio" is a biography in short form. It might be the "About Me" section of your website, social media page, or blog. It could be a short paragraph in a cover letter, or a blurb on the back of a book or the bottom of an article. It could be your introduction at a networking or professional event, or the words you say when you meet someone personally. It could even be the beginning of a larger writing project, such as a memoir or a collection of stories you are gathering for your loved ones.

The "Longer Version"
Whether it's for new shiny marketing materials or for a blurb in the PTA newsletter ... the task of writing a bio can feel overwhelming. Even those who have been in their field for a long time tend to detest the act of writing a bio, and put it off for as long as possible. The idea of someone else writing it for them can feel like a dream come true.
However, that is not what I do. I could write a narrative with some fact thrown in for good measure; however, you’d completely miss the life changing opportunity of writing it yourself. You see, a written bio reveals what you value, your accomplishments, and sets out a path of what you are likely to pursue in the future. You get to embrace and heal self-doubt in order to write a great biography. You get to own the totality of your experience. You get to take stock of your accomplishments and own them with an exhilirating sense of pride. You get to remember all the wonderful things you are and do, and put them into words so that you never have to stumble again when someone says, "So, tell me about yourself..."
Crafting a brilliant bio can be a life-changing experience. You'll feel more confident. You'll believe in yourself. Your work will feel "real" in a different kind of way. You'll not only find it easier to talk to people about yourself and your work, you will LOVE doing it. You will clarity about your WHY and the story of how you got to where you are. You will feel proud of what you are putting out there. You'll have momentum to going to your next phase...whatever that might be!
In addition to all these wonderful side effects, you'll also have a bio or personal introduction that you love! It would be my honor to support you in creating it.
About My Service
I offer a 1:1 coaching package that includes the following benchmarks, tailored in a way that is appropriate for each client:
1. Unleashing the bragging rights - freeing yourself any doubts or hesitations that come up when you talk about how amazing you are
2. Exploring your WHY - the process of getting to the fundamental reason that underlines your work or current venture or goal
3. Exploring the HOW and WHAT that tell an engaging story as it relates to the Why.
4. Guidance and support through writing your first draft of the bio
5. Refining the draft and repurposing it for different contexts.
I incorporate the three pillars of my work (Storytelling, Creative Experiments, and Sensory Engagement -- which you can read more about here) as well as my training as a Master Creativity Coach, licensed Nia Instruction and Certified ARTbundance™ Coach and Practitioner. My clients represent a wide variety of backgrounds: corporate C-level leaders, artists, writers, educators, organizational leaders, empty-nesters, community volunteers.
My rates are $150/hour or a 4-session package for $550 (save $50.) Often, this process can be achieved in four sessions, though some individuals may want or need more time to come to a point of completion. I always stay in close communication with my clients so make sure that we are progressing in the timing that is suitable, and that we remain on the same page for our goal. In addition to one-hour sessions by phone or video, I also offer email support between sessions when it is needed.
How to Get Started
Nothing creates better momentum than being engaged in conversation. I suggest a complimentary 15-minute phone session where we can get to know one another, and see if we are a match. Contact me here to set up a time for our conversation!
